Company culture is very important, but there is a danger that the hiring decisionmaker can mistake what they perceive as a "cultural fit" to be candidates with whom they personally identify. This unconscious bias may deprive companies of diversity of thoughts, backgrounds, and experiences. Paul Spiegelman, co-founder of the Small Giants Community, cautions employers to use care when hiring for "fit."
